Plain-English summary
- We collect the data you give us (your account, resumes, uploaded files) and a small amount of usage data to keep the product working.
- We do not sell your data and we don't share resume content with anyone except the services that make MakeResume function (listed below).
- AI features send your text to Google Gemini for processing. Gemini does not use that content to train models when called through the API.
- You can delete your account from your profile — every resume, file, and analytics record tied to your account is removed. For cookie and analytics details, see our Cookie Policy.
Data we collect
We only collect what we need to run the resume builder, ATS checker, and billing. Specifically:
Account information
Email address and password (hashed by Supabase Auth). If you sign up with Google, we receive your email and name from Google's sign-in flow.
Resume content
Whatever you type or import — name, contact details, work history, education, skills, projects, certifications, languages, awards, summaries, and optional profile photo (stored in our Supabase resume-photos bucket).
Uploaded files
When you import a PDF or DOCX, we extract its text to parse it into editable sections. The extracted text is stored as resume content; the original file is processed in memory and not persisted.
Job descriptions you paste
Saved against your account so you can re-tailor a resume to the same role later. They are not shared with anyone.
Billing data
Handled by Lemon Squeezy — we receive only a customer ID, subscription status, plan, and renewal/end dates. We never see your card number.
Product usage
Counts of AI requests, ATS analyses, and exports — used for plan limits and debugging. Anonymous events (e.g. resume_created, ats_checker_used) are sent to PostHog for product analytics.
Device & log data
IP address, browser type, and request logs collected by our hosting provider for abuse prevention and uptime monitoring.
How we use your data
- Run the resume builder, ATS checker, and PDF export.
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
- Process subscriptions, trials, renewals, and cancellations via Lemon Squeezy.
- Send transactional emails through Resend — sign-in verification, password resets, and subscription confirmations. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and respond to support requests.
- Improve the product by analyzing anonymized usage patterns.
AI processing
AI features — bullet rewriting, ATS feedback, resume parsing, summary generation — call Google Gemini through Google's paid API. When you trigger an AI action, the relevant section of your resume (and any job description you pasted) is sent to Gemini, which returns the rewritten or analyzed text.
Per Google's API terms, content submitted through the paid Gemini API is not used to train their models. You can read Google's policy at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
AI output is generated automatically. It may be incorrect, outdated, or inappropriate for your situation. Always review AI suggestions before using them in real applications.
LinkedIn import
If you choose to import from a LinkedIn profile URL, our server fetches the public profile page using a headless browser, extracts the visible information, and parses it into editable sections — the same way you would do manually.
We do not store your LinkedIn credentials. We only process what is publicly visible on the profile URL you provide. If you would prefer not to use this feature, you can build your resume entirely from scratch or by uploading a PDF/DOCX.
Data retention
- Active accounts: we keep your resumes and profile until you delete your account or remove specific items.
- After deletion: account, profile, resumes, exports, AI usage logs, and saved job descriptions are removed from our database immediately. Encrypted backups may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
- Billing records: Lemon Squeezy retains invoices for accounting and tax purposes per its own policy.
Security
Connections are encrypted with TLS in transit. Data is stored in managed Supabase Postgres with row-level security so users can only access their own resumes. Passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth — we never see your plaintext password.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay and as required by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you have some or all of these rights:
- Access: see what data we hold about you.
- Correction: fix inaccurate information — most fields are editable directly in the dashboard.
- Deletion: erase your account and all associated data.
- Portability: export your resumes as PDF; raw data exports available on request.
- Object / restrict: ask us to limit certain processing (e.g. analytics).
- No sale of data: we do not sell personal information.

Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account from Dashboard → Profile. When you confirm deletion, our server immediately removes your auth user, profile, subscriptions, resumes, resume sub-records (experiences, education, skills, projects, certifications, languages, awards, summaries), saved job descriptions, AI usage logs, exports, resume analyses, notifications, and background jobs.
Deletion is irreversible. If you only want to cancel your subscription without deleting your account, you can do that from Billing.
Children
MakeResume is not intended for children under 13. If you are between 13 and 16, you may use MakeResume only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will remove it.
International transfers
Our services are hosted in the United States and the European Union. By using MakeResume, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we use standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms with our processors.
Frequently asked questions
Does MakeResume sell my personal data?
No. MakeResume does not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers required to operate the product — such as Supabase, Google Gemini, Lemon Squeezy, Resend, and PostHog — and only the minimum data each provider needs.
How does MakeResume use AI with my resume content?
When you use AI features, the relevant resume text (and any job description you pasted) is sent to Google Gemini through Google's paid API. Per Google's API terms, that content is not used to train their models. Always review AI suggestions before submitting applications.
How do I delete my MakeResume account and data?
Go to Dashboard → Profile and confirm account deletion. This permanently removes your auth user, profile, resumes, saved job descriptions, AI usage logs, exports, and related records. Deletion is irreversible. To cancel billing without deleting, use Billing settings instead.
What are my GDPR and CCPA rights with MakeResume?
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, and to opt out of sale of personal information. MakeResume does not sell personal data. Email support@makeresume.pro from your account email to exercise these rights.
Does MakeResume use advertising trackers?
No. MakeResume does not load ad-network pixels or cross-site advertising trackers. We use a small set of cookies for authentication and privacy-respecting product analytics via PostHog. See our Cookie Policy for details and opt-out options.
Who processes MakeResume payments?
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. MakeResume receives only a customer ID, subscription status, plan, and renewal dates — we never see your full card number.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in-app. Continued use of MakeResume after those changes means you accept the updated policy.
